But it's really about how consumer behavior and technology collide both in our real world and the digital world. And I saw it on full display Sunday night. Think about your Super Bowl experience as you read this and I bet you will find at least one time where your real and digital worlds collided. I hope you enjoy it. Newly Released Healthcare Paper Underscores Importance of Technology, Innovations & Consumer Access November 7, 2011 By: Bart Foster |
| I have posted my most recent entry for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's HealthFlock blog. Entitled "Newly Released Healthcare Paper Underscores Importance of Technology, Innovations & Consumer Access and Participation," I discuss Jane Sarasohn-Kahn's recent paper on the millions of new patients who will soon be entering a healthcare system lacking enough primary care physicians to care for everyone.
Sarasohn-Kahn discusses ways in which our healthcare system will have to adjust in order to accomodate the many individuals requiring care, including "leveraging technology" and "expanding touchpoints." This is at the heart of what SoloHealth aims to do with our easily-accessible, fully-networked healthcare kiosks, and it is exciting to think about the potential benefits we can contribute to the healthcare system with the model we provide. I hope you enjoy the blog post.
SoloHealth Selected as a Top Healthcare IT Company in the Recent "Drug Store News" Special Report October 31, 2011 By: Bart Foster |
| We are thrilled to have been selected as one of the top healthcare IT companies recognized by Drug Store News in the recent report, “Heavy hITers: Top Companies Riding the Health IT Gold Rush.”
Along with 14 other leading healthcare technology companies, SoloHealth was selected for what the report states recognizes, “15 leading healthcare technology companies that are riding the healthcare IT gold rush and bringing a new wave of innovation for the HIT segment.”
At SoloHealth, our No. 1 goal is to bring the most innovative, consumer-friendly, self-service healthcare and wellness platform to the marketplace to contribute towards a more economical and efficient American healthcare system. So being recognized alongside these other incredible companies is quite an honor.
We couldn’t agree more about the “gold rush” state of health IT. You know what they say: Necessity is the mother of all invention. And today’s healthcare environment is in need of some major innovative technological solutions so we can have a prosperous and efficient future healthcare system. It’s top of mind with audiences across America including consumers, politicians, businesses and our government. And there seems to be a steady supply of dollars to support and drive innovative companies. In fact, we recently announced another round of funding, bringing our total to almost $13 million.
We are humbled to have been selected for this honor. And we expect an exciting and fast-moving 2012 for our company and our next-generation SoloHealth Station. Stay tuned!
SoloHealth Closes Major Financing Round; Plans Nationwide Rollout for 2012 October 21, 2011 By: Bart Foster |
| Today we are announcing we have closed $8.2 million in a round led by healthcare IT industry veteran and founder of HBOC, Walter Huff, bringing our total raised to nearly $13 million. This is incredibly exciting news for our company. I must acknowledge a big “thank you” to my entire team here at SoloHealth. Everyone—and I mean every single team member—has helped contribute to our success.
We are excited and energized about today’s news as we enter into a pivotal and opportunistic time in our business with the planned nationwide rollout of our award-winning SoloHealth Station. We’ve had a tremendously positive response from all the audiences that the SoloHealth Station touches – consumers, retailers, health and wellness marketers, and the healthcare industry – and are quite bullish on our ability to contribute towards a healthier, more efficient American healthcare system.
I’m sure many of you have seen or used the blood pressure machines located in retailers across America. As you know, they are extremely out-dated, especially compared to the next-generation SoloHealth Station, a comprehensive, state-of-the-art health and wellness screening kiosk that improves overall healthcare access by empowering consumers to take health into their own hands. Our goal is to replace many of the 25,000 out-dated blood pressure machines currently found in retail locations nationwide.
Additionally, we are proud to announce several growth statistics including that we have tripled our Atlanta workforce since January, adding jobs in IT, Sales, Finance, Operations, and HR. We also plan to hire approximately 50 additional staff during next 18 months including a CFO, Marketing Director and Ad Sales executives, effective immediately.
Stay tuned as we prepare for this exciting and fast-moving time for our company!
SoloHealth Selected as Finalist for the Intel® Innovation Award October 18, 2011 By: Bart Foster |
| SoloHealth Selected as Finalist for the Intel Innovation Award
Winner to be Named at the 2011 Health IT Leadership Summit on Nov. 8
I’m thrilled to announce SoloHealth has been selected as one of four finalists for the inaugural Intel Innovation Award, which recognizes health IT companies that are using technology in innovative ways, garnering strong clinical and financial benefits, or finding new ways to address specific disease states and health issues. Each of the four finalists will be featured and the winner announced and recognized by a top executive from Intel during the 2011 Health IT Leadership Summit on Nov. 8 at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. The press release, which was issued today, can be read on TAGThink.com.
At SoloHealth, our goal is to utilize technology to benefit consumers, health and wellness businesses, and our nation’s healthcare system. Our next-generation health and wellness kiosk, the SoloHealth Station, is our primary means of doing so.
The SoloHealth Station is a self-service interactive healthcare kiosk offering vision, blood pressure, weight, and body mass index screenings; an overall health assessment and recommendations; and access to a database of local doctors.
The kiosks were designed to make consumers’ access to essential, core health screenings free and easy, helping to educate and bring awareness to health and wellness so they can take action. This is especially crucial for the millions of Americans who do not regularly get professional health screenings because of financial concerns, time constraints, or other reasons.
We will have the SoloHealth Station on display during the Summit and encourage you to stop by and test it out. As you probably know, the Summit ranks as one of the nation’s premier health IT events. In 2010, more than 500 industry movers and shakers attended the Summit, representing more than 110 leading health IT companies. The 2011 event is expected to draw even more participants.
We hope to see you there. And for all those in the industry, let’s keep pushing it forward and make it happen!
SoloHealth Featured on Website That Profiles Disruptive Technologies October 5, 2011 By: Bart Foster |
| Today, the web publication "Daily Disruption", which covers "forward-thinking individuals and organizations that are changing the way we work and live," chose to profile SoloHealth.
The "Daily Disruption" SoloHealth feature talks about how SoloHealth enables individuals to take charge of their health. It provides a nice overview of the company, including the health conditions we address with our SoloHealth Station and the innovative ways we are working to meet healthcare challenges in this country. The piece includes a good quote from the SoloHealth team that really sums up how SoloHealth is on the forefront of a new way of approaching healthcare. “Wellness and prevention plans and programs will become the new normal, as the health care system transitions from episodic care, which is very expensive and many times too late, to that of a more managed care system where the emphasis is on keeping the well, well. Conducting multiple health screenings using the same foot print unlocks more value drivers by being both more efficient as well as more enticing to the consumer.”

New AJC Blog on Recent Consumer Healthcare Data October 3, 2011 By: Bart Foster |
| In my latest post for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's "Healthflock" blog, titled "Recent Consumer Healthcare Data Supports Self-Service, Education & Empowerment Mantra," I have included some health results from thousands of screenings at our SoloHealth Station health and wellness kiosk.
These results illustrate just how many health issues Americans have today and why it's so important to find innovative ways to reach people and get them to take charge of their health.
Nearly 75% of all SoloHealth Station users who completed a weight/BMI screening, for instance, were overweight or obese (43% of all users were obese). For more detailed results, you can read the complete post here.
We are a nation in need of more affordable, easily accessible healthcare options and here at SoloHealth we aim to be part of the solution.
